PHOTRORGANIZER3000 is a simple, powerful tool designed to take the headache out of organizing photos and videos — especially large SD card dumps from cameras, drones, phones, or recorders.

Instead of spending hours manually sorting files, this tool automatically organizes your media based on when it was taken, using embedded photo and video metadata whenever available.

Desktop Organizer 1000 is a local-only, high-control file organization utility built to clean up cluttered folders fast—without relying on cloud services, third-party apps, or risky “one-click cleanup” software. It was designed specifically for real-world production environments where you need speed, accuracy, and a clean audit trail.

This tool was created after repeated “messy desktop / messy downloads” workflows started slowing down daily operations—especially when juggling multiple project folders across business, media, documents, CAD assets, and archives. The goal was simple:

select a source folder → select a destination folder → scan for estimates → organize cleanly with full logging.

Desktop Organizer 1000 scans a chosen source folder (including subfolders), filters out system/hidden junk, and then organizes eligible files into a structured folder system inside your destination.

It supports two execution modes:

• Copy Mode (recommended): Safest mode — keeps originals intact.
   
• Move Mode (use carefully): Transfers files into the new structure, attempting to remove originals after copy.
   

It also supports Dry Run Mode, which simulates actions without writing files—perfect for verifying results before committing.

Files can be organized automatically by:

• Category → Date (recommended default)
   
• Date → Category
   
• Category only
   
• Date only
   

Date folders are based on each file’s Last Modified timestamp, which is the most consistent date available through the browser for most file types.

The organizer identifies file types by extension and routes them into practical categories like:

• Word / Excel / PDF / PowerPoint
   
• Code / Web
   
• Archives
   
• Design / CAD-3D
   
• RAW / Images / Video / Audio (optional)
   

By default, media is excluded because media organization is usually handled with a dedicated photo/video pipeline. However, you can enable media inclusion when needed.

To prevent disasters, the tool automatically ignores system-style directories such as:

• Windows + program folders
   
• recycle bins / system volume folders
   
• node_modules, .git, cache folders
   
• hidden dot folders (if enabled)
   

This means you can safely run it on broad directories without accidentally “organizing” system files.

The Scan (estimate only) feature gives you a quick snapshot of scope before any action is taken:

• Number of distinct Years / Months / Days represented
   
• Total eligible file count
   
• Total eligible size
   
• Breakdown counts for Word / Excel / PDF / PPT
   

This helps you confirm:

• you selected the right folder
   
• the job isn’t larger than expected
   
• the folder structure won’t explode into thousands of directories unexpectedly
   

• Skip if same name exists — prevents overwriting
   
• Auto-dedupe naming — appends _001, _002, etc.
   
• Pause / Resume — operational control mid-run
   
• Cancel — abort the process at any time
   

At the end of a run (or even if cancelled), the tool generates a log folder in the destination:

_NEST_LOGS/

Inside you’ll get:

• A CSV manifest of actions (copy/move/skip/errors)
   
• A README summary of settings and results

3. (Optional) Scan (estimate only)
   See how many files will be affected and how far back the dates span.
    
4. Choose options:
